Only a triple weld using proper heat guns with the right nozzles and the right temperature range will do.

The first weld is a back weld deep under the overlap.

The next step is a full weld over the entire overlapping surface.

The final step is a cap weld to ensure the top surface edge will not have any openings and that is looks smooth and continuous.
