Durability of Titan deck foot

by John

Hi, can you advise the estimated life of a Titan Deck Foot installed in the ground?
How long is it expected to last?
I live in an area in Ontario Canada with clay soil that is on the wet side.

Durability of Deck Foot Anchor
by: Richard

The parts of the deck foot anchor are hot dip galvanized. That includes the augers, saddles and plates or fins if used for frost footing/ledger connected decks. The thickness of the hot dip coating based on the most recent quality control checks conducted by Intertek was between 60 and 66 microns. That is as thick as you will find.

Sometimes we use a different manufacturer that makes the plates using a G90 pre-galvanized 11 gauge steel. G90 is not as thick as a hot dip coating and is maybe 25 microns thick. Hope this helps. Bottom line is its the best durable coating you can get next to stainless steel which is cost prohibitive.

In terms of durability, all we can say is in October 2024 after having extracted the very first augers from wet clay in a test build back in 2010 and examining them, they looked just like the day we installed them after we sprayed off the soil.

So not guarantees beyond that other than to say, its better than bare or painted steel, by a long shot.
