I have a brick paver patio that has been in for 10 years and I would like to know if the deck anchor will penetrate the gravel/sand base

Deck Foot Anchor for Pergolas
by: Richard

The Deck Foot is used often for pergola and gazebo kits made of wood or hollow metal posts. You should use a 36" auger to get through the top gravel base and into undisturbed soil presuming your soil is conducive to a helical anchor.

The convex plate can be used for direct ground contact by removing some pavers and later covering them over withe decorative stone or gravel or with pavers if the plate is set deep enough.

Or you can use a flat plate over pavers by removing one or more pavers for the auger to go through. In either application most people use hollow posts and connect the posts directly to the heavy gauge plate by stainless drilling screws.
