Rail shield™ protects and beautifies wood handrails for decades

New Rail Shield™ is a protection system for new or old wood railings that turns any ordinary back yard deck handrail from ordinary to extraordinary.  And it prolongs the life of the railing and virtually eliminates maintenance.

Wood railings from ordinary to extraordinary

Rail Shield beauty

Wood railings are the most affordable option for most people.  But the flat horizontal surfaces of hand rails and bottom rails age much faster from sun and water than the vertical surfaces of the rest of the railing.  This means regular staining is needed for handrails in particular.  At least every couple years.

PRotection that is beautiful and virtually maintenance free

Rail Shield is a deck handrail cover system made of durable virgin North American Polycarbonate.  It can handle direct sun, high heat and cold temperatures with with virtually no expansion or contraction. They snap over and hug the 2x4 cap rail.  They are secured in place with stainless screws in a center channel and then hidden with a snap fit cover to give a common hand rail an exceptional appearance and life long protection - and no more staining.

And elegant end caps can be used to finish exposed hand rails that extend over newel posts.  It's a clean elegant look that people love. This is an example of how it is used as a handrail cover for stairs.

A perfect partner with snap'n lock balusters

If you combine Rail Shield™ on the bottom rail with Snap'n Lock Balusters™ the look is fantastic. There is a center groove that the Snap Lock base connectors align with.  Other brands of connectors can also be used but only Snap'n Lock Balusters™ install faster and easier because of it's patented sideways installation method.   The bottom profile is made of PVC.  PVC shrinks more than polycarbonate but because it is screwed in place every 4" with balusters it cannot move.  This makes is more affordable to get the protection you want for the bottom rail.

Fearless leader rich bergman

"After the crazy inflation we have seen, wood is still the most affordable material to build outdoor railings. But flat horizontal wood surfaces like deck handrails take a beating from the weather and require regular maintenance."

"The idea of turning an ordinary wood railing into something extraordinary, while protecting and prolonging the life of a wood railing has been on my mind for a long time. Rail Shield™ does exactly that. It's the last piece of the puzzle and pairs perfectly with Shadow Rail Connectors™ and Snap'n Lock Balusters™."
