I have a two steps stairs off my porch that land on a concrete sidewalk. There is no railing so the stairs float with the sidewalk with the winter frost. Last winter the frost heave was about 1/4 inch. Now I want to attach a railing from the colonial posts on my porch to the stairs. The side walk flares as it approaches the porch to accommodate the stairs and it looks nice. I don't want to go thru the trouble of cutting up the side walk to install footers for the posts for the railings and it would look terrible.I am open to what kind of post & railing to use..I have no railings on the porch as it is only 17' high. I see many stairs with railings that just sit on the side walks. Any suggestion?.
