Faux Deck Support Posts

I currently have 4x4 posts under my deck (walk-out basement). I would like to "turn" these into 12x12 posts and cover them with faux rock material.

What I am wondering is how to go about making the post build-outs so that the are larger.

Faux Rock Stone Around Deck Posts

A stone or faux rock finish around a deck post is a great idea. To build out a 4x4 post to approximately 12x12 requires some basic framing skills which are really a bit too tricky to try to explain in this forum.

It also depends if you plan to have the build out suspended from the ground or connected in some way to the surface or pier footing below. Either way you will have to run cross bracing at alternate 90 degree directions around the post in order to attach your framing to it.
